Man jailed for slashing neighbour's throat

Last year in January Jamie Edney, 36 years old slashed the throat of his neighbour Mr Hobbs. How did this happen, well Mr Hobbs was banging  on the door of  Edney’s house. Edney opened the door while holding a knife in his hand. Mr hobbs  accused edney for having an affair with his girlfriend and that is when Edney slashed his throat.   Judge Longman said.  "I accept that you did not go looking for trouble. It was not begun by you. It was Mr Hobbs who came to your door and he did so in a temper. To answer the door holding the knife was asking for trouble ... you selected the knife intending to intimidate’’.Edney  has to go to jail for five-and-a-half years.

A five-and-a-half-year prison sentence is really too low. People do awful things without thinking of the consequences. Edney went to the door holding a knife in his hand, so he knew obviously that there was something wrong, because Mr Hobbs was banging on the door. Edney is not a child, so he knows what the consequences are if you stab someone or in his case slashing someone’s throat. He should not have gone to the door holding a knife. That is asking for trouble…. I don’t know maybe he was just scared and reacted in that way, but that is no excuse for slashing someone’s throat.

  1. If he is capable of cutting one mans throath I think he will be capable of doing other things as well. Five years is a really low punishment for someone who has killed another human being. He could have chosen not to open the door, or he could have called the police if he was too scared. He shouldnt have taken a knife, because the moment he took the knife he knew he was going to stab someone.
