Church of England warning on gay marriage

According to the church marriage is a union between a man and a woman. In 2005 same- sex couples wanted to get the same rights as married couples as civil partnership, but the law does not want to refer those couples as marriages.
Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, meanwhile, said the government's proposals only concerned civil marriages in registry offices and would have "no impact on faith organisations or places of worship".
In April, the Church of England wrote a letter to the Times newspaper that the Church had nothing against the prospect of gay marriage. Meanwhile they asked people to sign an online petition organised up by the Coalition for Marriage. More than 550,000 people have  signed the petition for supporting traditional marriage.

In my opinion a church has to decide whether they marry gay couples or not. I have nothing against gay people and if they want to marry they can. It’s their decision, but they also have to have respect for those who don’t believe in gay marriage. Gay marriage is not allowed in every religion.  I understand that the church does not want to marry gay couples, because they believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.
