Tackling violence in Europe's largest youth prison

Europe's largest youth prison is in Hindley, in north-west England. The most violent and disruptive teenagers are hold there. The main reason why they are separated from the others is, because they cause the most trouble.
The seventeen year old Scot is in Hindley Young Offenders' Institution near Wigan  for 3 months now for his  bad behaviour in the main prison. He has got a punishment of 13 months for breaking in five houses and for robbing a corner shop with a knife. He was behaving very badly towards the other prisoners so that is why they decided to transfer him to the Young offenders Institution.
''Around 75% of the teenagers in Hindley will commit another crime within a year of their release, if current trends continue. Given the nature of its inmates, the rate in Willow is likely to be even higher''.

I think that it is very good that they separate the most aggressive teenagers from the others, because it will prevent them from beating up others of hurting themselves. Although it is not really a solution for trying to change their behaviour. Most prisoners are doing the same thing when they come out of prison. I think that there has to be a special programme for these teenagers to provide them with the special care they need. If not they will keep coming back to prison. So it is only a solution for a little while, just until they come out of prison.
